Two Indian hospitals received their accreditation as the first Comprehensive Stroke Centers in the country from the American Heart Association (AHA)-- Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad and Aster MIMS in Kozhikode.
In India, stroke is the fourth leading cause of death and a significant contributor to healthcare disease burden.
Aster MIMS has launched a pioneering framework for stroke care called the Response-Rescue-Resuscitation (R-R-R) system. This model ensures that these patients receive immediate care which allows for early intubation, thrombolysis, and thrombectomy.
These Comprehensive Stroke Centers will undoubtedly transform the future of healthcare in India. This will help reduce the rates of mortality and disability associated with strokes by improving patient outcomes.
Some critics worry that these certifications might exacerbate the healthcare divide between urban and rural areas. For smaller facilities, implementing the required infrastructure might be financially burdensome.
This will eventually pave way for the more Comprehensive Stroke Centers across India and will continue to expand with time. This increases nationwide access to advanced stroke care.
They signify a leap toward world-class medical care — India's first Comprehensive Stroke Centers. Not only does this achievement raise the standard of stroke treatment, but it also helps raise awareness and education about avoiding stroke.
